Due to autumn fog i could not observe the "old" lunar crescent during morning twilight from munich. The fog departed around noon, so i used the well established realtime-video technique to capture/observe the crescent during the day.
Attempts to observe the crescent visually through the same telescope were not successfull, due to low contrast with the remaining haze.
The crescent at 15:06 (UT+2), under good conditions. A large number of particles and insects floated by, leaving their trail in the image.
Video of the crescent around 15:06 (7MB)
Later in the day, around 17:00 (UT+2), the crescent approached the clouds and haze near the western horizon, but could still be seen easily on the monitor, through strong contrast enhancement.
Video of the crescent with clouds around 17:00 (5MB)
The clouds and haze got thicker and thicker at 17:14 (UT+2), finally covering the crescent at around 10° above the horizon, about one hour before moonset.
Video of the crescent, drowning in the clouds around 17:14 (1MB)
The layers of clouds we had to deal with around 17:06. Despite these the crescent could still be seen easily on the monitor, through strong contrast enhancement.
