Lunar crescent on 3. July 2008

Version 27.06.2008, ME

It should be possible to image the lunar crescent during 3. July 2008. The elongation will be 5.74° at local noon and increase to 9.5° at sunset.
Venus will be close by, which will be usefull for focussing and alignment of the mount.

The constellation at noon, with the moon east of the sun. Venus is nearby.

The constellation at local sunset.
Observing the moon visually will be quite challenging, due to the strong tilt of the ecliptic. Venus should be easier to find, as it is a small bright dot, which should have good contrast to the surrounding sky.
